A growing number of YouTube Music users are reporting an annoying playback issue where songs refuse to continue automatically to the next track. Instead, music stops completely after a single song, forcing users to manually skip or hit play again every single time.

And from what I’ve seen digging through user reports over the past few days, this isn’t just an isolated glitch.

Complaints have been piling up across Reddit and Google’s own support forums, with most reports pointing toward an issue affecting iPhone users, particularly those using Apple CarPlay. However, there’s also at least one Android-related report, suggesting the problem may not be entirely limited to iOS.

One frustrated user recently explained in a Reddit thread about YouTube Music not playing the next track:

“For a few days now no matter if I click on the next button, or wait for the next song to play, it never plays.”

Another user described pretty much the same behavior in a Google support thread discussing CarPlay playback stopping after one song:

What makes this issue particularly frustrating is that many affected users already appear to have autoplay enabled. In several reports, users say playlists visibly queue up the next track, but the app simply refuses to begin playback once the current song ends.

Others mention that even manually pressing the “next” button sometimes does nothing at all.

One user noted in a separate YouTube Music community report about autoplay failing after an update that the issue only started after updating the app:

“After upgrading to the latest version of the YouTube Music app, songs no longer autoplay to the next track when connected to CarPlay.”

Meanwhile, another affected user from Egypt explained in a forum discussion about YouTube Music not playing the next song on iPhone that reinstalling the app only fixes the problem temporarily before it eventually returns again.

This suggests the issue may be tied to something server-side, cached app behavior, or a bug introduced in a recent update rather than damaged installations on individual devices.

The complaints don’t stop there either. Users across multiple threads have reported similar experiences involving autoplay failures, playlists stopping after one song, and playback freezing between tracks.

So far, there’s still no official acknowledgment from YouTube Music or Google about the matter. I checked through public support discussions and haven’t found any confirmed fix, workaround, or statement from the company yet. So far, affected users are being urged to send feedback to Google via the app.

Still, the volume and similarity of the reports strongly suggest this is a real ongoing issue rather than isolated user error. What also stands out is how recent most of these complaints are. Many began surfacing roughly within the past week, further reinforcing the possibility that a recent app update may have unintentionally broken continuous playback functionality for some users.

While iPhone users dominate the reports, at least one Android user has also complained about the same issue. That could mean the underlying problem affects queue management more broadly across platforms, even if iOS and CarPlay users appear to be bearing the brunt of it right now.
