Microsoft appears to be “democratizing” signing in to Edge, likely in an effort to bring over more users and simplify the process of migrating to the browser. Even if you’re using an Android device, the company is now testing an option that lets you sign in with an Apple account.
This was first spotted by @Leopeva64 on X, though it’s worth noting that Microsoft hasn’t included alternative sign-in options for Android in its original roadmap.
You'll soon be able to sign in with a Google or Apple account on Edge for Android. Microsoft recently announced this option for desktop on its roadmap, but there is no mention of Android support or Apple accounts there. A couple of new flags in Canary hint at this option: pic.twitter.com/H8rc0RC1NL

Signing in to Edge with a Google account is slated for release (on the desktop version) in July 2026. That’s public information available on the roadmap; we were also able to get this feature working by enabling the flag. More on that here.
The Microsoft roadmap only mentions Google account sign-in for the desktop version. There’s no information about signing in with an Apple account. Nothing about Android either.
However, these testing flags in Edge Canary hint at both options: Apple and Google account log-in… for the Edge Android app.
I’ve checked on Edge Canary myself, and both of these flags are available. They read “Mobile Sign in with Apple” and “Mobile Sign in with Google.” The descriptions mention that these respective options are supposed to show up on the sign-in screen.
However, both options are non-functional at the moment.
Furthermore, a flag being available in Edge Canary doesn’t guarantee a public release of the feature. Since further information is absent in the roadmap, release timelines are also unclear, assuming Microsoft decides to move ahead. We need to wait for an official statement (or a silent release of the feature) to confirm.
In other Microsoft Edge news, the handy “Drop” feature is being removed from the browser. We covered that here.
