Facebook’s new Forum app brings Groups into a standalone experience with AI features
Meta has quietly launched Forum, a new standalone app for Facebook Groups, and it’s now live on the App Store.
The app showed up without any official announcement. Social media analyst Matt Navarra spotted it first. A Meta spokesperson later confirmed it, saying: “We test lots of new products publicly to see what people find interesting and useful to their experiences across our apps.”
Forum lets users sign in with their existing Facebook account, and their groups, profile, and activity carry over automatically. You also get the option to post under a nickname.
The app is built around two ideas: real answers from real people, and AI-assisted community management. There’s a feature called Ask, which pulls together responses from across multiple groups when you post a question, so you’re not manually digging through endless posts. Then there’s Admin Agent, described as an agentic AI tool that helps group admins moderate content and keep communities running.
Navarra also shared a couple of videos, you can check them out below:

The app heavily pushes questions, recommendations and “real answers from real people.” Very Reddit-coded.

Meta employee Ben Chen, who worked on both AI features, confirmed the launch in a post shared on Facebook, as highlighted by Navarra.
The feed inside Forum is built around group conversations rather than trending content, which feels like a deliberate contrast to Facebook’s main feed. Navarra described it as “very Reddit-coded,” and that’s pretty much the same way I feel about it.
That said, in my testing, I wasn’t able to find the app on the App Store in India, which suggests it’s limited to the US and possibly a few other western markets for now. The App Store listing itself does say some features may not be available in all countries or regions.
