Update (May 20, 2026): The issue has reportedly returned with Android 17 QPR1 beta 3, and it’s affecting Microsoft Intune users more severely. Most Microsoft apps, such as Outlook, are completely bugged out. Opening the Outlook app results in a crash, and reopening doesn’t help.

Some people attribute the issue to a new regression bug introduced after the recent Android update. The regular apps (not included in Microsoft Intune) are reportedly working fine. For Teams, Edge, Word, Outlook, etc, force-stopping the app from App Info may help solve the issue.

Fortunately, the issue has already been reported to the development team, and Google has promised an update soon.

Update (Jan 19, 2026): Some Google Pixel users are still reporting issues with Microsoft Teams crashing even after installing the most recent Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2, suggesting Google has yet to fully address this problem.

Since the update rolled out yesterday, a surge of reports indicates that major banking apps, specifically Chase, and essential work tools like Microsoft Teams and Outlook, are crashing immediately upon opening.

Chase Bank app leads the crash reports

The most vocal complaints are coming from Chase customers. Users report that the app force-closes instantly when attempting to launch it. For some users, only Chase is affected, while others say all their banking apps crash. This inconsistency is typical of beta Android builds, as many financial apps rely on strict OS validation and security checks.

While some users are reporting success with other banks like Capital One, Wells Fargo, and BILT, others are seeing crashes across the board, including international apps like CIMB and Affin Always X. There are also cases of other apps, such as Bambu Handy, crashing for Pixel users.

Enterprise apps on Work Profiles are broken

Perhaps more disruptive for those who use their Pixels for work is a widespread crash affecting Microsoft’s suite of productivity apps.

The issue specifically targets users with Work Profiles (typically managed via Microsoft Intune/Company Portal). Reports confirm that Microsoft Teams and Outlook refuse to open, crashing immediately when accessed through the Work Profile.

“We have work profiles via Intune MDM… click on Outlook, it doesn’t open. Click on Teams, it doesn’t open,” one user reported on the Issue Tracker. Interestingly, several users accessing these apps on their personal profile (without MDM constraints) appear to be unaffected, pointing to a conflict between the new Android beta and enterprise security policies.

The good news is that these crashes have been logged extensively on the Google Issue Tracker (e.g., Build CP11.251114.006), and developers have flagged them for review.

If you rely on your Pixel for mobile banking with Chase or corporate communication via Intune, Android 16 QPR3 Beta 1 is not recommended for your daily driver. We expect these stability issues to be ironed out in upcoming patches, but for now, the mobile browser might just turn out to be your best friend.
