Christopher Sanders was jailed after an NCA investigation found he paid for child abuse livestreams and encouraged offenders overseas.
A Somerset man has been jailed after a National Crime Agency (NCA) investigation found he repeatedly paid for the livestreaming of child sexual abuse and encouraged offenders overseas to abuse children during the broadcasts.
Christopher Sanders came to the attention of investigators in 2023 after intelligence from international law enforcement partners identified a UK-based individual making repeated payments for livestreamed child sexual abuse.
NCA officers arrested Sanders at his home in Somerset, where they seized electronic devices that contained evidence of his online activity. Investigators found he had made numerous payments to facilitators in the Philippines in exchange for livestreamed abuse involving children.
According to the NCA, Sanders also sent messages directing facilitators on how he wanted the abuse to be carried out, including encouraging them to cause additional distress to the victims. Investigators said his communications showed he was actively directing the offending rather than simply viewing the abuse.
Sanders pleaded guilty to all charges at Leicester Crown Court in February 2026. On 7 July 2026, he was sentenced to 32 months’ imprisonment. The court also imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), and he will remain on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
The investigation was supported by the Philippines National Police, highlighting the close cooperation between international law enforcement agencies in identifying offenders who exploit children online across national borders.
The NCA said livestreamed child sexual abuse continues to be a significant global threat, allowing offenders to commission abuse remotely while attempting to hide behind online anonymity. The agency added that international partnerships remain essential in identifying victims, safeguarding children and bringing those responsible before the courts.
