What New Hampshire’s 2027 tuition promise covers—and what it doesn’t
NorthEast News is following a new tuition-waiver program for New Hampshire students, but “tuition-free” does not mean every college bill disappears.
Starting in fall 2027, the University System of New Hampshire’s Promise is set to cover standard tuition for eligible residents from families earning up to $100,000, including some community-college transfer students. Students must meet the program’s academic and financial-aid rules, attend full time and pursue a first undergraduate degree.
Families should still plan for fees, books, housing and meals. There is no separate Promise application: students apply to a participating school and submit the FAFSA, then eligible applicants are considered for aid.
NorthEast News explains the eligibility details, participating campuses and what remains uncertain before the first cohort arrives: https://www.northenews.com/article.html?slug=new-hampshire-public-colleges-tuition-waiver-fall-2027
