A BREASTFED baby’s first food is colostrum, a syrupy, yellowish fluid that, within days, is replaced by breastmilk. “First milk”, as colostrum is also known, is rich in nutrients, antibodies, antimicrobial proteins and amino acids that promote tissue growth. This helps newborns get off to a good start. Might colostrum, therefore, benefit adults too?
