Rhode Island’s new nursing degree path is built for working RNs
Rhode Island’s two public colleges have launched a fully online RN-to-BS pathway, giving eligible Community College of Rhode Island nursing alumni a way to pursue a bachelor’s degree while continuing to work. The partnership is designed around the schedules of practicing nurses, with lower program tuition and scholarship opportunities highlighted by the schools.
CCRI nursing students may be considered for conditional admission after their first semester, while graduates can apply through URI Online. Admission requirements include an accredited nursing degree, a 2.6 GPA and an active U.S. nursing license. URI says its 24 core credits can be completed in as little as 15 months, though students still need to satisfy the full 120-credit degree requirements.
